Prompt 29: The Hospital Bag Checklist (Real, Not Pinterest)
When to use it
You're packing your hospital bag and you want a list based on what people actually use, not what looks good in a YouTube video.
The Prompt
I'm [N] weeks pregnant. I need to pack a hospital bag for a [N]-day stay (vaginal) / [N]-day stay (C-section).
My hospital/birth center: [NAME] — [E.G., "provides mesh underwear and giant pads" / "bring everything" / "only provides basics"]
Season: [E.G., "summer" / "winter" / "spring"]
Going home outfit: [E.G., "loose dress" / "maternity leggings" / "I have no idea what fits"]
Partner situation: [E.G., "staying with me" / "going home at night" / "no partner"]
Baby's going-home outfit: [E.G., "sleeper + swaddle" / "just a onesie" / "going home in the car seat cover"]
Please give me:
1. The 3 bags to pack: (a) labor bag, (b) postpartum bag, (c) baby + partner bag
2. The 15 things you ACTUALLY use (and the 15 things you'll bring home unused)
3. What's already provided by the hospital (don't bring duplicates)
4. The "I forgot this and wish I had it" list (and the "I'm glad I brought this" list)
5. Comfort items that help during labor (not just delivery)
6. Postpartum-specific items (the first 24 hrs are no joke)
7. The phone charger situation (you WILL forget, multiple times)
Important: I want the real list, not the aesthetic list.Example output
*"Labor bag: ID, insurance card, birth plan (1 page), phone + 2 chargers, snacks (honey sticks, energy bars, Gatorade), hair ties, slippers, water bottle with straw, chapstick, your own pillow (in colored pillowcase). Postpartum bag: high-waisted underwear (the hospital mesh ones work), 2-3 outfits (still pregnant-looking, NOT your pre-pregnancy jeans), toiletries, peri bottle, going-home outfit. Baby bag: 2-3 onesies, 2 sleepers, going-home outfit, car seat (installed), blanket. Partner bag: change of clothes, snacks, phone charger. Skip: your own towel (hospital ones are fine), books (you won't read them), makeup (you won't care)."*
